You’re all invited to a very special Egyptian night as part of the Montreal 2010 festival du monde arabe! The concert is under the title "I'm All That" and led by the Egyptian singer-songwriter Ehaab Abdou. This will be the only Egyptian night at this year’s prestigious festival du monde arabe in Montréal. The concert will be taking place on Wednesday November 10th, 2010 at 8pm in the studio-théâtre in Montréal's Place des Arts. The evening will be a celebration of our diverse, embracing and multi-faceted Egyptian identity. In addition to around 10 of Ehaab’s own new Arabic songs, which mainly carry the theme of celebrating and promoting tolerance, inter-faith dialogue and diversity, he will also be performing a couple of traditional Egyptian songs by the legendary musician Sayyed Darwish. We promise you a very special and memorable evening! We're very lucky that on stage with us, we'll have a group of talented musicians, vocalists, poets, etc. In terms of musicians, you’ll enjoy a wonderful and unique Middle Eastern/Québec ensemble that we formed over the past few months. This includes: on the Lute/Oud (Dr. Naseef Gebeil), Neyy (Zayid Baghdadi), Riqq/Duff (Amar Lazam), Qanun (Nour), Bass Guitar (François Landry), Violin (Anit Ghosh) and table/precussion (Karim Nagi). We will also be joined by Montreal-based Egyptian poet Ehab Lotayef who will reciting a couple of his most special Egyptian poems that he wrote, accompanied with music. Also, for the first time in Montreal, we will be joined by our Boston-based Egyptian percussionist/folk dancer Karim Nagi (more about him at: www.karimnagi.com). We will also be joined by the young talented Toronto-based Egyptian hymns performer Sally Dawoud presenting a couple of Arabic language and Coptic language hymns. Sadko competition for new Egyptian children songs

In collaboration with the Egyptian company “Sadko” which is providing generous financial support, Ana Masry has launched the first national competition for Egyptian children songs on June 23, 2010. Sawy culture wheel is also supporting the competition through supporting the promotion of the competition and in hosting its closing ceremony in September 2010. The competition is open for all young talented Egyptian lyricists and composers to submit new and creative songs targeted to Egyptian children. The lyrics need to promote the values of hard work, social responsibility, tolerance, and pride in Egypt’s multi-faceted and multi-layered identity, etc. Deadline to apply is July 31. A national selection committee composed of prominent figures as well as Egyptian children will do the final selection while also fans and friends will have a chance to vote on-line. Winners will be announced and celebrated in September 2010 in a concert to be sponsored by Sawi culture wheel in Zamalek. In addition to financial awards to the top 8 songs, the selected songs will be produced in an album to be sung by some of Egypt’s star singers.
